usic at St. Martin s Bringing wonderful music to a glorious church 10th Anniversary Season 2014 Presidents: Miranda & Orlando Rock Registered Charity No anniversary Welcome to Music at St Martin s MUSIC AT ST MARTIN S came into being as a result of a happy collaboration between the then rector Michael Thompson, John & Joy Pye, Stephen Johnston and Paul White (then Director of Music at the Endowed Schools), whose love of music encouraged them to hold regular concerts in the glorious acoustics of this historic church. As the momentum grew, a number of concerts were organised with visiting choirs and groups, supported by local hotels and businesses who took advertising space in concert programmes. The initial ideas - to enable more people to appreciate the building, to raise the musical profile of this beautiful church in Stamford and to help raise funds for its maintenance - remain at the centre of Music at St Martin s. We now have a formal structure, with charitable status, and over the years Music at St Martin s has succeeded in making a substantial contribution to the Fabric Fund. In 2014 we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Music at St Martin s and we are very grateful to the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, Bill & Sue Clements, Julius Geeson of Smallwood Architects and John & Joy Pye who have undertaken to sponsor three of our concerts. As well as the new sponsorship scheme, we can now offer Season Tickets and we hope that all our supporters will enjoy the particularly splendid season of events on offer this year.
