The FIES 2015 is the seventeenth (17 th ) survey conducted nationwide by this office now known as Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The former National Statistics Office (NSO), along with three other agencies namely, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), Bureau of  Agricultural Statistics (BAS), and Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES) constitute the newly created PSA by virtue of Republic Act 10625 (Philippine Statistics Act of 2013). The FIES 2015 is a sample survey designed to provide data on family income, income inequality among Filipino families, and family consumption and expenditures for the country and its seventeen (17) administrative regions. These data are the basic inputs in the estimation of the country’s poverty threshold  and incidence and the basis for policies and programs of the government to improve the socio-economic conditions of the Filipino people. The survey was conducted in two separate operations using two separate questionnaires with the same set of questions. The first visit was conducted in July 2015 and the second was in January 2016. For each operation, the reference period was the half-year period preceding the survey. The PSA extends its profound recognition to the respondents of this survey for their cooperation to provide vital information on income and expenditures and most of all to the personnel and enumerators for their untiring support, determination, and commitment to their duties and responsibilities for the success of the FIES 2015.
