  • 2. Job Description and Responsibilities<br />Board of Trustees: The district’s elected leaders, trustees watch after the interest of the community in the school. They are elected to watch and oversee the district in the best interest of the community. The board’s responsibilities include employing the superintendent, establishing policies for operation of the district, monitor expenditures, approve the budget, and for ensuring its financial viability.<br />Superintendent: The hired Leader of the district. Responsibilities arrange from handling the financial needs of the district, overseeing and hiring all personnel, supervising and managing all facilities and educational programs.<br />Director of Technology: Lead the way to improving the technology of the district. Responsible for upgrading all district wide technology, evaluating technological needs of the district, and evaluating teacher’s need in professional development and use of technology for the district<br />District Technology Committee: Assist on recommendations for district wide technology improvements, including professional development and equipment needs for each campus.<br />Curriculum Director: Works with each Campus Principal, Campus Counselors, and the District Librarian to assist them in implementing strategies, including technology, to ensure the success of all students in the district. <br />Campus Principal: Responsible for ensuring that technology is successfully used and implemented at the campus level and provides input into training for all staff as needed or requested.<br />Teachers: Responsible for using and assisting with decision making for technology in the classroom and implanting all technology in the classroom.<br />
  • 3. Technology has become a major part of the educational process into days schools, it is up to the Principal of each campus to monitor and implement all technological needs for their campus. With students being more technologically advanced than many of their teachers, it has become a difficult task to for the Principal to find strategies to keep up with them. It is ultimately up to the Principal to keep up and implement the newest technologies and strategies for their campus and students. It is also the responsibilities of the Principal to make sure all of the teachers on their campus has the needed professional development and training to successfully implement technology in their classroom<br />The Principals Role in Implementing And Monitoring Campus Technology<br />

Technology Action Plan for Alto ISD<br />Goal: To provide administrative and instructional information in a timely and efficient manner so the administrators and teachers can focus on the primary task of educating students.<br />Reason: To meet the requirements set by the Texas Education Agency, SBEC Teacher Technology Standards, and to provide a frame work for enhancing education and business functions using technology, so that the students of ALTO ISD may be competitive in the global marketplace. <br />Professional Development Activities<br />Activity One: Teachers will take part in professional development for the creation of power points, the use of Microsoft office, and the use Microsoft publisher. These professional development days will be set up for the specific needs of the individual teachers at each campus. Each campus principal will be responsible for evaluating each individuals needs in each of the above areas. Then meetings will be set up based on the needs of each teacher and their level of expertise in each area. Groups will then be setup as novice, intermediate, and advanced. These groups will then meet the individual needs of each teacher , by allowing each group to develop the skills in which they are low in. By dividing into three groups this will allow for faster development and improvement in the particular areas of need. At the conclusion of the workshops each teacher will have improved at a rate that will benefit each needs.<br />

Technology Action Plan for Alto ISD Continued<br />Activity Two: The second professional development will consist of learning the proper use of the internet and the legal protocol for the use of the internet. Teachers will meet with the Technology director alto access each individuals knowledge and understanding of the proper protocol for use of the internet. The teachers will then meet once a month with the technology director to go over the proper use of the internet, what protocol that should be used on the internet and why s of making the use of the internet safe for the students. This meeting will include distance learning opportunities, one on one meetings with experts in the field of internet protocol , and experts on the safety of the internet. At the conclusion of these meeting the teachers will be able to have better knowledge of the proper use and protocol of the internet.<br />
  • 6. Evaluation Methods: To make sure that the district is improving the technology assets of the district the principal will observe each teacher and critique them based on the standards set in the technology improvement plan of the district. The teachers will also be asked to create lessons in which Microsoft power point, Microsoft Office word and Microsoft publisher will be used. In the lessons the principal will establish a standard that must be meet to show the improvement of each teacher and their comprehension in the use of these products. The Technology Director will also check with each teacher and hand out a survey for the teachers to show their improvement in internet protocol and the understanding of the issues with safety for the use of the internet. These surveys will be setup based on the needs of the technological plan of the District and the needs of each individual campus. After the completion of these surveys and the creation of the lessons, the technology committee will look at the success of these programs and determine the success of each professional development and how the district can still improve the use of technology in the district.<br />Technology Action Plan for Alto ISD Continued<br />

Teacher Evaluation of the Professional Development: Each teacher will write a brief critique of each professional development stating the success of each workshop, what can be done to improve each workshop, and what needs must be meet by the district to improve the successful use of technology in the district. <br />Technology Action Plan for Alto ISD Continued<br />
